Vijayakanth’s political career is booming and his acting career is not far behind. He used to act in stereotype films but his formula always works in his favor. In ‘Dharmapuri’ too, he plays a-do-gooder who sets things right all alone in his village, which is being exploited by a corrupt few. His dialogues and mannerism are sure to make his fans happy.

The people of Dharmapuri village earn their livelihood by making dolls from clay. However, Mokkaiyan (Manivannan) and his sons Silandhy Karuppu (Raj Kapoor) and Peruchali Karuppu (Bobby) give out the land on lease to local MLA Konda Mookan. Humiliated by the act, the people of the village decide to end the menace. They go in search of Sivaraman (Vijayakanth), son of Meiyappan (Vijayakumar), who once worked for the welfare of the village but later left it because of Mokkaiyan's family. They find him working hard for the people of Rameshwaram. They urge him to come back to the village and teach a lesson to Mokkaiyan and his family. Now, Sivaraman sets out for the mission and he falls in love with Valarmathy (Lakshmi Rai) in the meantime. Will the man achieve his mission? The rest of the film gives an answer to this question.

The film has songs that sing Vijaykanth’s praises and the dialogues are hard and heavy. He has given justice to both stunt and dance sequences besides lashing out strong words at politicians. Heroine Lakshmi Rai has nothing much to do but to run after the hero. M S Baskar has managed to bring the house down and other actors like Manivannan, Raj Kapoor, Bobby and Rajasekhar Reddy have given justice to their roles. Srikanth Deva’s music is another highlight of the film though the background score is disappointing.

Director Perarasu is the beginning and end of the film for it is his script, screenplay and storyline that have won the battle before the fight. This film will surely give good time to Vijayakanth fans.
